3 Tips To Be More Productive With Your Time

Productivity Tips

3 Tips To Be More Productive With Your Time

We all want to get more things done and be able to use our time wisely. If you are prone to procrastination or find that you just can't do all the things you've set out to do on your to-do list, these tips may help you:

PRIORITIZE

I have a tendency to make a giant to-do list.

Everything from pick up more toothpaste to redo the living room to start a new morning routine for my toddlers.

While these are all great goals, they’re impossible to get done in one day so two things need to happen.

The first is to break down our goals into smaller goals. By breaking up the goals into smaller goals we can do a little each day and that will help us to achieve the larger goal.

The second thing is that we need to figure out what is a priority.

My kids need their lunch packed for the day but I don’t necessarily have to redo my whole living room today.

By prioritizing our goals we can figure out what is really valuable, what is really worth doing, and how are we going to spend our time. That way we’re getting the things we need to get done today finished and holding off on bigger goals for a time when we have more time to do them.

EAT THE FROG - OR DON'T!

I don’t know who came up with this and I don’t know why a frog but I’ve heard it said many times:

You should eat the frog first thing in the morning.

Basically what this odd phrase means is that the hardest task or the task you’re dreading the most should be the first thing you do in the morning.

The reasoning behind this is to set you up so that the rest of your day feels easy.

This might work for you and if it does that’s great. But for me personally facing the hardest task of the day first thing in the morning will send me procrastinating ALL DAY LONG.

What I have learned to do is a frog sandwich.

I like to do one or two easy tasks first to get the momentum going. This makes me feel accomplished and I almost always feel more motivated once I get a few things done off my to-do list.

However,  I don’t want to do ALL the easy tasks leading up to the hard task.

If I do only the easy tasks for most of my day then by the end of the day I will drag my feet knowing I've left the hardest task for the end.

So instead with the frog sandwich, I do a couple easy things like I make breakfast,  make my bed, etc.  and then I do my hardest task of the day right after while the momentum is still going!

Whether that's the dishes, promoting a blog post, returning an email or making doctors appointments - whatever that looks like for you - get it done early in the day while you still have the motivation and then the rest of your day will be a breeze.

You won’t be dreading that task at the end of the day or putting it off until the next day but you also won’t procrastinate all day waiting to do the thing you hate the most.

Another handy little bonus trick is to reframe the way you’re thinking about your hardest task. Guaranteed if you think about it and how much you hate doing it, you are NOT going to enjoy doing it even more.

But if you reframe your mindset to think I get to do this thing and then move onto more fun things OR think about why you’re doing the task and how it will benefit you then you’re much more likely to feel better about the task and not drag your feet.

SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS

You may be a very visual person, just like me, which means sometimes if it’s out of sight it's out of mind.

How I combat this is to set myself up for success.

This means if I want to remember to take my vitamins every day, not only do I set an alarm on my phone to remind me as an auditory clue, but also I set the vitamins out on the counter at a spot that I will see them first thing in the morning.

For me that’s right beside the fridge because guaranteed I’m going to be hungry first thing in the morning want to grab breakfast and I’ll see the vitamins right there and I’ll remember to take them.

This might look like planning out your outfit the night before or packing lunches the night before or maybe it means setting out exercise clothes and equipment the night before so that you’re more motivated to do a workout when you see them.

Whatever the thing is that you constantly forget to make time for, remind yourself with a visual clue and set it out in advance to set yourself up for success.

I hope these tips have helped you to be able to be able to prioritize, set yourself up for success and accomplish all your goals!

What is your hardest task to get done daily?

The only toys your toddler will ever need!

LOVEVERY TOY SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW

I know you want to be intentional about the toys your kids play with. Me too. But let's get real, we as moms only have so much time in the day to get things done between snacks, laundry, more snacks, more laundry, etc etc.

I don't know about you, but I don't have time to research every developmental milestone, look for supplies and activities, pack them together for quick & easy access daily.

I just don't.

And I would guess you don't either.

That's why I'm so thankful that I was stalked by the ad for Lovevery. Yes, stalked.
It was on every Facebook page, Instagram post, Pinterest pin. And now I know that was for good reason! The algorithm gods have made my life so much easier by introducing me to LOVEVERY play kits!

This article may contain affiliate links which means I will receive a commission of sales purchased through links at no additional cost to you. All opinions are 100% my own
Play Kits Subscription Program Auto renew
The quick rundown:

Montessori play kits designed by experts for your babies and toddlers.
Delivered to your door.
Comes with a play guide for each stage with ideas for how to play with the box backed by all the research you don't have time to read.
The subscription starts at $36/month.

Win! Win! Win!

Here's Some Of the Items In My First Lovevery Subscription Play Kit (The Helper - Ages 25, 26, 27 Months):

This sink is sustainable! It's made from recycled materials and the idea behind it is so your kids can still have water play but without wasting water by running the real sink. The toy sink has a pump that recirculates the water through it. This is by far my kid's favourite toy to play with and they can easily spend hours playing with it.

This anywhere art kit has come in handy so much at the doctor's office, car rides, etc. It's just to pop ut on the go to keep your kids occupied and the best part is it is made with tempera washable paint stick so its non-tox and mess-free!

One of my favourite items that come in this playkit is these routine cards! These help us navigate some tantrums during transition ties by showing what's coming up next and in some instances giving my toddlers a choice between two different activities which helps them feel more in control.

Each play kit comes with a nook like this that tells you how to play with the toys, suggestions for variations and progressions, what milestone in development the toys are helping your child work on, what stages your child is going through developmentally and additional activities you can do with your child using materials you likely have on hand at home!

I love this because it takes and the research and guesswork out of my hands and makes it super easy to follow along!

Check out what else is in the Helper Playkit here!

There's so much to love about this subscription. Besides saving me valuable time and research headaches, they make it super easy! All you have to do is plug in your child's date of birth and they will suggest the appropriate age box to start with and will auto deliver from then on. (You will receive a new box every 2-3 months)

The items they include are not only developmentally appropriate and fun, but I love that they use non-toxic materials and environmentally friendly materials (sustainably sourced wood, organic cotton, carbon-neutral shipping, etc.) to make sure you don't have to worry about what's going into your kiddo's mouths as they play.

Toddler Play Kits by Lovevery

My literal only regret is that I didn't start this subscription from birth!

If I could've started over from the beginning, I would've put this on my registry and not bothered buying all the random light up and noisy toys that my kids never play with but somehow are all over our house (currently in the midst of simplifying our toys and toy areas and making a toy rotation for those items they do play with).

Have you tried a kids toy subscription box? Let me know in the comments below!

And don't forget to subscribe so you never miss a post!

Back To School // September Haul

While my kids my not be going back to pre-school just yet this September, I still have a few supplies to try and simulate some of their preschool learning at home. This year is my oldest's last before he starts kindergarten next year which means the school readiness/kindergarten prep begins! We're mostly working on things like name recognition, fine motor skills, getting ready (dressed, coats, hats, etc.), potty training, etc.

I have a few things that I felt like might come in handy this year.

Birthday Wishlist (Amazon, Young Living, etc.)

"What do you want for your birthday?"

I don't know why, but this question throws me for a loop every time. Inevitably I answer, "uuhhhhh.... i don't know...." or "you don't have to get me anything!"

This drives my family crazy! So this year, I decided to compile a list of things I would love for a birthday or Christmas or anniversary gift and just let it chill on here in case they want some ideas. At the very least, it's a list for me to look back on and choose something to reward myself with when I hit some of my goals!

This article may contain affiliate links which means I will receive a commission of sales purchased through links at no additional cost to you. All opinions are 100% my own.

1.2.  3.

1. Hammock chair (for indoors) I love my outdoor hammock and am not wanting to give it up for the winter. I thought I could get a hammock chair for inside.

2. Backpack purse I miss my diaper bag. I know that sounds crazy but I love being hands-free and still able to carry all the essentials. Since my little ones are now toddlers, they have their own backpacks that we use for preschool or trips out and about. I was using a small little crossbody bag but am finding it can't fit all the things I want in it.

3. Driftwood Macrame Wall Hanging I love this art piece and thought it would look great above our bed.

1. 2.  3.

1. Delicate rose gold layered necklace I like really simple versatile pieces of jewelry. Preferably not expensive (as I don't wear jewelry often, I don't really feel the need to invest a lot in it). I like that this can subtly dress up an outfit.

2. Aria Ultrasonic Diffuser I have been wanting one of these diffusers for YEARS! They come in and out of stock so quickly! Rumour is there is a restock on my birthday so I think it's meant to be!

3. Fiddle Leaf Fig Planter Other than mugs and essential oils, my growing collection is plants! I've held off for a while but now I think I'm finally ready to hopefully not kill a fiddle leaf fig!

What's on your Christmas/birthday/whatever wish list? Have you had any good recent finds on Amazon? Let me know in the comments below!

How To Create A Welcome Package (for new members!)

1.  2.  3.
4. 5.   6.

This article may contain affiliate links which means I will receive a commission of sales purchased through links at no additional cost to you. All opinions are 100% my own.

1. Welcome Boxes
2. Crinkle Paper
3. Drawstring Bags (for rollers)
4. Mailers (if sending smaller packages)
5. Spray tops
6. Dropper tops

I like to mix it up and give both practical tools & some fun things (custom blends, diffuser keychains, etc.) so that the person receiving the welcome package feels like they have the tools to succeed but also that there was a lot of love that went into the package for them.

Some of the fun things to add to welcome packages are:

1.  2.3.

1. Diffuser bracelet
2. Custom roller blend
3. Keychain diffuser

And then of course you want to give them an info packet of how they can use their oils, roller blends, diffuser blends, etc.

What do you put in your welcome packs?
